So, how does it work?

For some, and especially newer authors, the design process can be daunting and overwhelming. I try my best to make it as easy for you as possible, and that includes avoiding terminology that is foreign to those outside the art and design world.

I have a form I’ll ask you to fill out, providing me with as many details about your idea and tastes as possible, and then I’ll design an initial mock-up for you. We’ll go through a few rounds of revisions until we end up with a cover you love.

I’m more than happy to answer any questions, but do check out the FAQs below in case the answer is lurking in there.

Q: Are stock image costs included in your prices?

A: As long as they are from DepositPhotos, yes, you will have a number of stock images included in the price. If, during the design process, you decide you need more images to complete the design, a small fee will be charged for the extra images.

Q: What are the license terms on stock images?

A: Please refer to DepositPhotos for the full license agreement. It is the responsibility of the author to make sure you abide by these terms. Please note, if you sell more than 500,000 copies of your PRINT book, an extended license will need to be purchased at your cost. Stock images from other sources will be subject to their own set of license agreement restrictions.

The full license agreement for DepositPhotos can be found here:

https://depositphotos.com/legal-information.html

By purchasing a cover designed by me (premade or custom), you agree to abide by these restrictions.

Q: What are stock images?

A: Stock images are photographs taken by professional photographers and sold on various platforms for general use. They can be bought by various artists and designers, etc, at low prices. This means they are not exclusive and can be found on multiple projects across all kinds of media. As far as possible, I try to keep my designs unique, but this does not mean the images won’t be found on other designs. The better the stock image, the more likely it’s been used by many designers.

Q: I want exclusive images. Is there an alternative to stock images?

A: In a lot of cases, yes. There are premium websites selling photographs at a higher rate—like Neostock. This often results in the images being less commonly used and can create a more unique cover design. Some of these websites will even sell exclusive rights or offer custom photo shoots, but bear in mind, these can become extremely expensive.

Q: Do I have to credit you as my designer.

A: No, but a mention is always appreciated.
